Look: Edgy bright blue & green eyeshadow featuring Urban Decay’s Book of Shadows Vol. 3
Sorry for the low quality pictures but I really loved this look and want to post it anyway.
I created this look exclusively using eyeshadows from the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume III eyeshadow palette. It is super bright and fun….sure to get you tons of compliments.
Look: colorful winged eyeliner with metallic golds from the Urban Decay Naked Palette
I am loving winged eyeliner right now and especially colorful winged eyeliner so here is a fun look I did using Teal colored liquid eyeliner and gold eyeshadow. This is a very simple look that you can do in just a few minutes once you have mastered the winged eyeliner. If you have not yet mastered winged eyeliner, fear not, just keep practicing, and you will get there.
You can do this look with any color eyeliner, even black if you don’t feel like rocking the bright colors. I think pink, blue, green, or purple would all look great with the golds though. You can also use any type of eyeliner you are comfortable with: gels, liquids, pencils, or even plain eyeshadow applied with a wet brush. It’s really up to you. I like using liquids for winged eyeliner because they create a really crisp line, but if you suck with liquids or don’t have any, you can totally make do with whatever you’ve got. Most of the eyeshadows I used are from the Urban Decay Naked Palette
Get the look: Easy bright eye makeup using Urban Decay’s 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette
Urban Decay is well known for it’s bright, bold, shimmery eyeshadows, and their 15th Anniversary Palette (reviewed here) has plenty of bright colors to work with. I created this fun, bright eye makeup look using just 2 eyeshadow brushes and 4 shades from Urban Decay’s 15th Anniversary Palette ($55 with free shipping at Sephora.com), plus some Stila Smudgestick Waterproof Eyeliner.
Look: Green and gold bright eyeshadow look to compliment handmade Peruvian necklace
I went shopping at Ten Thousand Villages recently and found a lovely handmade Peruvian necklace. If you are unfamiliar with this store, they are a nonprofit fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted goods from around the world. The necklace I purchased has very intricate design with hand-made wiring and lime/sage green colored stones (see photos below).
I wanted to do a look that highlights the lovely greens in the necklace, so here you have it.
Video tutorial: Astros game day look with brick red eyes
I recorded a tutorial of how I created this maroon/brick red look to wear to an Astros game. Since I used products from a ton of different palettes, I thought I’d research some drug store alternatives for the eyeshadows so you can create this look yourself without spending a ton of $$$
Look: Metallic browns and golds from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette, perfect for Fall
Metallic shades are an incoming trend for this fall. The metallic brown & gold look I created here is easy to do and looks great with tons of neutral outfits. Most of the colors from this look come from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection, available at Sephora and reviewed by yours truly here.
Video tutorial: Classic Mad Men inspired look
I rewatched the whole Mad Men series, and since I’d already seen it, I could pay more attention to the details like fashion, makeup, and other things I didn’t really notice as much the first time around.
While watching, I kept thinking how georgous Betty Draper and Joan Holloway were but noticing that they really didn’t look like they were wearing much makeup, especially eye makeup. They have really natural matte eyeshadow and usually dark, dramatic eyeliner. So I’ve been working on a similar look and I did a video tutorial of it today. This is my first video tutorial so bare with me. I’m sure they will get better with practice
Wearable bright green look
I’ve always loved bright eyeshadow but for those who are a bit more reserved with their eyecolor, now is a great time to venture out and try some bright colors. Bright eyeshadow is very trendy this summer, and you can get some really fun bright colors by picking up palettes like Urban Decay’s Book of Shadows Vol. 3. Or, if you are on a budget, Loreal’s HIP line can be found at any drugstore and has a wide array of bright eyeshadows.
