I have tried many, many red lipsticks over the years and had just about given up hope on ever finding the perfect red lipstick for my skintone until I was shown Laura Mercier Creme Lip Colour ($22.00) in the beautiful cool, blue-toned red lipstick shade that is called Seduction.

Don’t judge a red lipstick by it’s tube

The only reason I even tried out this lipstick was because I saw it on a model styled by Laura Mercier at Neiman Marcus with gorgeous red lips. (see photo below, sorry about the bad quality but thats as close as I could get). I asked the ladies at Laura Mercier what shade they used on the model. I was still doubtful it was the shade for me but one of the lovely ladies at Laura Mercier insisted that she try it on me so I could see for myself. I explained that red lipsticks always looked pink on me no matter what I tried and I just knew this one would too. And it didn’t help that this lipstick doesn’t even look red in the tube. Its more coral and peachy than red. But once they put it on me, I had to take back my words. It was amazingly red. The most lovely, bold fire engine red I could imagine.

And it’s long-wearing, sort of…

So the color of Seduction is great, but does it last? Well, my answer is yes and no. I think you could drink a glass of wine, kiss your boyfriend/husband/date/husband/lover, or even smoke a cigarette and you would still have lovely red lips, but to keep the color at its ideal height of redness you may need to touchup a couple times in the course of an evening. You will definitely want to reapply after eating. Or making out.

On a side note, some people may even find it to be too long wearing, because I still have a good bit this color left on my lips in the morning if I don’t wash it off the night before.

This lipstick is seriously creamy and moisturizing

Laura Mercier Creme Lip Colour is very creamy and moisturizing. When I wear this, I find myself wanting to rub my lips together just because they feel so soft and moisturized. That feeling lasts all evening and I seriously think my lips feel super soft and moist even into the next day.

The color does not have a lot of gloss though, so I find that if I want some extra shine, layering some Tarte for True Blood LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint over Seduction gives just the right amount of gloss and shine. However, I don’t think I would layer an actual gloss over Seduction because the red stands out enough on its own.

Don’t forget to pack your lip brush when you wear this shade

As with any lipstick tube, please use a lip brush to apply. It’s pretty much impossible to apply tube lipstick precisely without a brush and with a color this bright, mistakes will really show.

Confidence in a tube

Some people might say that you have to be really confident to pull a color like this off but I don’t agree. I think the looks of admiration and envy you get when you wear Seduction will give you all the confidence in the world.

I would definately give this product 5 out of 5 stars. Keep a look out for some looks featuring this shade. I love Seduction so much I won’t be able to resist creating some looks centered around it.
